Laptop is not showing all contents of the disc

Hello, hope somebody can help...
I've just had my old Tiny A360 laptop repaired (it's been in bits for the past 2 years but now works like new), and my desktop is in the process of dying, so I am using the LT as a primary machine until the DT is repaired.
I'm having a problem with discs though. The desktop shows full contents of burned discs but the laptop only shows (and allows me access to) a few items on the DVDs.
For example a disc with 4GB of data will work perfectly on the DT, but on the LT, the disc is displayed as having only 1GB of data.
All the data is in the same format, not mixed, ie, one disc just with pictures, another with just video files. I've used the DT for burning the discs if that makes any difference, and the discs are one-write only. The laptop reads discs up to 24x so I don't think it's anything to do with the burn speed.
Can anybody explain this, and is there a workaround? Thanks.

One reason why your laptop can only read parts of the DVDs is because you may have burned the data onto the DVD-R/CD-R blank media over a number of "sessions" and not all in one go, so the laptop is probably only "reading" the first "session" with the rest of the "sessions" being unreadable to the laptop optical device.
Also, what kind of optical device do you have in the laptop, a DVD rewriter or CD re-writer?

You are correct, most of my files were burned to the DVDs on separate occasions, not in one go, but why can the desktop read the whole disc, whereas the laptop cannot? Also, is there any way of getting the laptop to read the other content on the discs?
The optical device in the laptop is a DVD rewriter. Thanks for replying.

Perhaps the disks weren't finalized/closed on the Desktop & can't be completely read on the Laptop (or any other PC). If so, the disks would need to be closed on the Desktop using the original burning software.

I will try doing that. Thanks again for replying so quickly.
