comp. won\'t down download anthing

everytime I click on something this error shows up....
"[Exception... "Could not convert JavaScript argument arg 0 [nsISupports.QueryInterface]" nsresult: "0x80570009 (NS_ERROR_XPC_BAD_CONVERT_JS)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://searchshield/content/overlay.js :: InitSDK :: line 410" data: no]"
Also I cannot download ANYTHING from the internet..ie..antivirus, programs, or install a game ..this is driving me crazy and i don't want to reformat or take it anywhere to fix it, especially now when it's black friday....
when i try todownload something from the internet I also get an error message that "this is not a win32 application"..i am running vista home premium 64 bit operating system...

Most probably this problem is
due to an addon of firefox. Do you have AVG Antivirus installed on your
system? If yes then try to find out the addon of AVG named "AVG Safe
Search" in firefox and disable it ,then restart your firefox
