Hi
I have a dell laptop and whenever I try to burn cd or dvd , it fails.

This problem is due to old firmware. You have to upgrade your dvd drive firmware.
Go to dell website. Then click on Drivers and Downloads. Enter your service tag(written on bottom side of your laptop) and download the latest firmware for your cd/dvd drive and install them.
